For blogmas day two I thought I would make some scones. These are super quick and easy to make and they taste so yummy! Also, there is an option for sugar free so it's a sugar-free treat. I love eating them with butter and jam, but you could also put cheese on the top, or add other ingredients to make savoury scones (like bacon etc.)
SCONES -
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 12 medium sized scones
INGREDIENTS
❤ 3 cups plain flour
❤ 6 teaspoons baking powder
❤ 1/4 teaspoon salt
❤ 5 teaspoons sugar (optional if you'd like it sugar free)
❤ 80 grams butter
❤ 1 1/4 cups milk
Preheat your oven to 220C and line your baking tray with baking paper or lightly dust with flour.
❤ Sift the flour and the baking powder into a bowl. Then add the salt and sugar.
❤ Put the butter into the dry ingredients and mix the butter until the flour is similar to bread crumbs. (I use my hands to rub the butter into the flour, but using a knife is just as good!)
❤ Add the milk into the mixture, making sure to work fast.
❤ When the milk is pretty much all through the mixture, I like to take it out of the bowl and knead it for about 5 minutes. Make sure you flour your bench before you do!
❤ When you've finished kneading, roll the dough out and cut into 12 squares (or six if you prefer bigger scones)
❤ Roll the bits of dough into the scone shape you'd like and place them onto your baking tray.
❤ Cook for about 10 minutes (longer if they're bigger)
❤ When they are brown on the top, take them out and either let them cool, or serve them warm with butter and jam!
